Big Week: ATC completed, MSc Defended!

July has started with a roar! While the team has been furiously un-sticking leafhoppers, carefully weighing out cow dung, and hand-collecting beetles: we had two exams. First, Em Stainforth successfully defended her ATC (July 9th), showing a wonderful mastery of leafhoppers and their potential impacts on lowbush blueberry. Yay Em!

Because good news likes a friend, the very next day – Samantha Bennett (co-supervised by Paul Manning and Dave Burton) successfully defended her MSc thesis entitled “Downstream effects of brown seaweed supplementation in beef cattle diets on greenhouse gas emissions and coprophagous beetles”! Sam did a fabulous job, showing mastery of her topic including: microbiology, nutrient cycling, soil science, entomology, animal nutrition, and greenhouse gases! Such a fabulous project, by such a wonderful human being. We’re going to miss you Sam! Congratulations on a job beautifully done!
